The MCB 133 Veterans Association Muster

Saw the Reunion announchment in Shift Colors and found out about the WEB Page. I was in 133 from recommisioning in '66 till return from Phu Bai in '69. I was an SWCN/3/2 and attached to Delta Co. While you guys trained in LeJune I was the one in the galley, keeping the Marines in line. I spent a lot of time at the MAA Shack in Phu Bai when I made 2nd. No break in to duties and for my first revielly, I said, "Good Morning, Time to get up. Revielly." Hoping to hear from someone who remembers me.

I was with the Kangroos from 10/80 thru 8/83. Retired after 22 years up in New York Long Island area. Keep in touch.

Great site... I was in MCB 133 "B Co." from 1967-1970; for tours to Phu Bai and Gia Le. I will be back often and try to catch up with old friends.

I attended Vietnam war from 1966-1967 and 1967-1968. I was in MCB 62 FROM 1965-1969. Anyone who was in 62 at those times give me a E-mail to recall the good and the bad. Its always good to hear from those who experienced the same way we all did.

I was in MCB-133 1966-1968. Bravo Company. I was Guide on Bearer during the recommissioning. Went to Da Nang '67, came back to states at end of deployment. Took 30 days leave, got married,(my wife is from Gulfport) 30 days military training and back to Da Nang-MCB-128. Discharged Mar '68. I work for BellSouth 32+years here in Gulfport. Hi,Fellow Seabee. Assigned to MCB62 after Greatlakes bootcamp. MCB62 was forming in Davisville RI. So was MCB133. Both groups sent men to Gulfport and reopened that Base . It (the base had been closed since WWII.) I went with these two groups and helped reopen Gulfport. Two tours in Nam. Discharged in 1969. See ya'll in Hampton VA. (7 years as a Suffolk Park Ranger 20 Years as a Suffolk Deputy Sheriff. Now Retired.)

I was attached to the SeaBees as a yeoman and Vietnamese interpreter in DaNang 69/70. I worked at Public Works on the road to China Beach, Then I worked at a Property Disposal yard on the road that went to the Da Nang bridge. I am looking for a Jerry Neff. After the Navy we went to Peru. My second tour I taught English to Vietnamese Naval officers in Nha Trang, 71/72. Again I was around a lot of Sea Bees. I was with a Paul Duran. I can't believe this site. I flew a lot on my first tour. Went to Chu Lai, Phu Bai, Quang Tri and Dong Ha. My job was turning over Navy generators to the Vietnamese. Just updating an old entry. Wondering if there is anyone out there who served with the ghost battallion, MCB 9 out of Pt. Hueneme 1968 thru 1970. I joined Bravo Co. mid-deployment in Okie., after boot and A school at the Lakes. Anyone who went to Okinawa during 68 can probably still hear those B-52 taking off from Kadena. I was in Nam '71-'72 with NAVFORV Public Works out of Saigon. I traveled around a bit, An-Thoi, Long Binh, Nha Bay, Vung Tao, and so on. When I returned to the world, I joined MCB-133 in '72 til Feb '75 when I was discharged. I made the Diego Garcia tour with Det Chagos and then the Okinawa trip. Had a lot of good times. Looking back, even Diego was beautiful...we just couldn't appreciate it at the time since we were still fixing it up for the Bees to follow...(lol). I've been spotting lots of former "shipmates" from 133 at different places on the net but this is the first time I have seen this site. Hi to all of you 133 bee's, You know how thay say "you can never go back" well I just revisited our old base at Gulfport, It Sure has changed in 33 years, even the town has changed. only about one or two of the old wooden barraks are still there. It is now the Atlantic Fleet Sea Bee HQ's I was able to find the appartment my new bride move into on 38 & 8 st. Going to the base brought back a lot of old memories. Hiya to you all. I was in 133 twice. Once because 62 decommissioned and another to finish out my tour before getting out in 95. I've been in NMCB-4 the early 80's. Yes, I provided comfort in IRAQ, LOL. I wouldn't change all the places and all the people I met while I was 12 1/2 years active duty. I'm currently in the Reserves, NMCB-17 Det 0217 and I am a Federal Food Inspetor for USDA. I seen a lot of good people on this site that somehow I forgot I missed. I was with MCB 133 in Phu Bai (Camp Campbell) 1968. I was attached to security and was on a listening post. There were two Listening Posts with 4 guys in each. I have many fond memories and some that are not so fond. I loved Gulfport and the southern belles. I remember going to Phu Loc one day and after paying $ 15.00 a fifth of Old Crow, the only bourbon they had was crown royal.. we bought all they had when we found out that crown royal was being sold for $ 7.00 a fifth. Boy did we get Drunk.. Anyone out there with Prostate Cancer? Let me know if you are. There are several other forms of cancer that was a result of Agent Orange. Don't think Agent Orange wasn't around Camp Campbell cause it was. I would like to hear from Doug Hyser, Pallatier, either norman or wayne brown and others that was on the LP at Phu Bai. Remember the fire fight we had one night? We almost didn't make it because of Friendly fire. We had 12 Bunkers and No C4 in the claymore minds. The C 4 sure made our beans and weines taste good (sea rations) The skivie houses were awesome at the time but I don't think I could stand in line 20-30 GI's again to get laid. We use to comshaw plywood and give it to the corpman so we could bet pennicillin shots. Later

Joined Alfa Company, NMCB 133 late at Camp Wilkinson, Gia Le as an EO1 in 1969. Except for Hurricane Camille I would have joined 133 when they returned to Gulfport, MS but, due to folks with emergency situations returning to homeport creating a need for project supervisors, joined the battalion on deployment. Night shift pile driving supervisor rebuilding bridge QL-14 north of Hue. The website photo of the two cranes working at night is of that project. Attended nuclear power plant operator school in 1970, worked in that field until 1975, made the Okinawa deployment with NMCB 62 in '76, retired from Pensacola in 1979.

Back in 1968, you guys were a tad shorthanded at PhuBai and got some guys in TAD from NMCB THREE. I was one of them,an EO. Ended up working on a paving crew led by EOC Jim Brannen. Then I reformed and got an honest job, I became a BU! Served until 1978, instructed at Navscon, Porhue, and 31st NCR. It wasn't fun any more after peace broke out.

I was in NMCB 133 during the continuous "Best of Type" years 1982 through 1986. I served as a CM2 with Alfa Company in Roosevelt Roads, Expediter at Hueneme during Okie, and finished up at Det Nea Makri, Greece. Barely left as a CM1 as I went to XOI my last day in 133. Went to Diego Garcia with the advance party in Oct 72. Was Det Kiwi (MCAS Iwakuni) OIC from Feb74 until we rotated back to Gulfport in Oct 74. Just found this site I was in 133 from May75-Aug 78 I remember Marty Benson. I heard the bad news a few years ago . We were in A school together and 133 in Puerto Rico. Went off to Vieques (Bundys Mountain), I'm still recovering from the round table episode,what a view ha ha. Bermuda I heard the aircraft arresting gear worked. Was LPO of Medical and AIRDET Corpsman, 1984 - 1985. During this time, the Kangaroos were awarded both the Battle "E" and the Peltier Award for three years in a row! Captain Kannegeiser was the CO. Dr. Timony the Medical Officer. I left during the Rota deployment on emergency leave and ended up being re-assigned for humanitarian reasons - my son took deathly ill (he is now 14 and just fine). I currently work for the Naval Ambulatory Care Center in Port Hueneme, in the Industrial Hygiene Department, where I again help the SEABEES to stay healthy - some things just never change!

Good to finally find a site link to old seabees. Was in MCB-9 early 70'S. After boot camp at Great Lakes joined MCB 9 mid-deployment in Okinawa. Helped build barracks on end of Kadena AFB runway.. If you were there you remember those B-52's taking off for bomb runs over Nam. After a few months R&R in Pt.Hueneme,battalion was decommissioned. Recieved orders to join Nixons Vietnamization plan in beautiful South Vietnam. Spent 12 month tour Cam Rahn Bay/ Dian-just south of Siagon/then last 8 mos. on the island of Phou Choa, villiage of An-Thoi.. Seperated w/early out at T.I.,upon returning to states.. When I met my husband he was stationed with NMCB-133 out of Gulfport, Miss. from 1983-1985. His deployments included Puerto Rico and Adak, Alaska (where we met). Always looking for my fellow Kangrooers. I was in NMBCB 133 from 1973 - 1977.I made three deployments: 1974-Philippines, 1975-Puerto Rico, 1976-Diego Garcia.Stop by my Seabee page and take a look. I just added a page on BU A school in Port Hueneme and expanded my site dedication to include a page on the 3 Seabee officers who were killed in PI and the CN who was electrocuted on Okinawa -- all on our '74 deployment.
